Pagan Pride 2017 in Battery Park, NYC

So yesterday my friends and I went to the annual Pagan Pride event, this time taking place in Battery Park. I don't identify as a pagan myself, but there are some pagan habits I have; basically I like burning sage and incense. This habit is especially helpful now as I currently live in a basement apartment where mold and humidity are very possible annoyances that can occur. So while I was at this event all I wanted was to pick up a few things to burn in the apartment.

There were all sorts of vendors and workshops going on. Lots of fun handmade trinkets to buy. It was like an Etsy store spilled over onto the streets. I'm a sucker for that sort of thing and I ended up picking up something from a shop that I will save for a post later on.

The opening ceremonies was a ritual by a Heathenry group who led a prayer to our ancestors and to the gods of the Odin pantheon. From there, it was all belly-dancing, philosophy, and lectures about how to transcend certain negative aspects of life, how to attain a better relationship to the divine (both masculine and feminine), and how to visualize success during meditation. I know I'm missing some stuff, but that's all I can remember at the moment.

I'd say it was a really successful event. At some point my phone lost all charge so I was unable to take any pictures, but I can guarantee you there were a ton of people in attendance. I look forward to going again next year.
